Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas, has revealed that Gareth Bale is giving the club silent treatment, as he tries to force through a move to Real Madrid.
The coach, who also confirmed that the winger will miss three weeks of the new season because of foot injury, conceded that that he does not know what is going through the 24-year-old’s head at the moment.
“Nobody knows Gareth’s state of mind because he doesn’t speak,” he said. “The only thing we see is the player arriving in and out of the training ground. But it’s fine. Ideally we’d like him to stay here. This is where his future is.
“He is very far off regarding fitness compared to the others. He hasn’t played since our first friendly of the summer so the pre-season has gone by without him being involved, so for Crystal Palace on Sunday, Tbilisi on Thursday and for Swansea next weekend, he won’t threaten a comeback.
“We will have to see how he returns from Wales and if the pain in his foot has stopped troubling his progress to return to first-team training.”
