Emirates Stadium side ready to smash wage ceiling in pursuit of top talents.
Arsenal
are reportedly confident of putting together a package that will entice
Man United striker to the Emirates Stadium according to the Daily Star.
The North London club believe they have a genuine chance of securing
the signing of the Old Trafford star, who is said to have issued a
verbal transfer request though the 27 year old has since refuted the
claim made by former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Arsenal
are said to be ready, willing and able to meet Rooney’s reported £200k a
week wage demands, a move that would smash the Gunners wage ceiling.
Wenger
is closing in on a deal to sign Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain and
is keen to also welcome Rooney to the club with the hope of playing the
England international in a slightly withdrawn role behind the Argentine
in a ‘dream’ attack pairing.
Such a move would perhaps leave
Olivier Giroud wondering quite where he fits in at Arsenal, with the
French forward having a relatively successful first season at the
Emirates Stadium.
Wenger seems certain to offload supporting
strikers Nicklas Bendtner, Gervinho, Marouane Chamakh and Park Chu-Young
to make way for new attacking additions.
Arsenal do seem to be
closing in on Bernabeu marksman Gonzalo Higuain, with the player’s
brother, Nicolas, admitted an Arsenal deal is close to being completed
for the 25-year-old, stating;
“I cannot deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal,” he said.
